Don’t Miss the Solar Eclipse in Atlanta! Here are the Best Viewing Spots

There hasn't been a visible solar eclipse in America since 1979, but that's all about to change during today's incredible astrological event. There is a 97% partial eclipse visible in Atlanta today at around 2:36 p.m., but if you choose to travel a bit outside the city, you can see the 100% total eclipse in all its glory. Here are a few great spots to view the eclipse in Atlanta.

  • Georgia Tech University. To view the eclipse at Georgia Tech, get your free eclipse glasses at the six distribution centers around campus. Then, head over to Kessler Campanile for a live stream of the eclipse from the Georgia Tech Observatory, as well as free Moon Pies and other treats.
  • Georgia State University. Check out the solar eclipse viewing stations at 25 Park Place Plaza, 25 Park Place, Room 223 (2nd floor) and Langdale Plaza (between Langdale and the Library). You can view the eclipse through the university's powerful telescopes during these events.
  • Fernbank Science Center. All day long, the Fernbank Science Center will host eclipse-related events and free showings of scientific films. Guests can also look through telescopes and watch live streams from other areas in the United States.
